Seems like we have another fun FUBAR technical situation to deal with! As of yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 8/31/05), the repeaters' transmit frequency drifted to 444.610 + or - a few KHz.
*** UPDATE *** I now think the reason for this is a component in the TX channel element has changed value slightly. The channel element does have an adjustment screw to manipulate the output frequency of the crystal and I will attempt to manually retune the TX frequency closer to what it is supposed to be. This is not the recommended way of solving this problem, any retuning should have the use of a service monitor or frequency counter to aid in the process, but on short notice I was not able to come up with one. If any of you have either of these pieces of test equipment and would like to help Saturday morning (9/3/05), please let me know. It also looks like I will need to order a new temperature compensated crystal / channel element combo for the exciter. If I can narrow down the problem to that, I will order one next week.
The repeater will stay off until I can get the problem resolved.
As always, stay tuned...
