 ''...and the verdict is...''

News about the W1CKD repeaterIt f*@$^%# works!!!

The weather could not have been more perfect for one last scheduled trip to the repeater site! Al - K1HAX and myself made the trip up the hill to make final equipment adjustments for the season. Thanks to Chuck - N1MSA, the temperature sensors were wired and housed only leaving me to interface them with the controller. One sensor is mounted on the interior tower fence at the 7 foot level and the other is on the fins of the repeater PA. Check out the codes page for more info on how to access the sensors.

The 6 meter remote base receive audio to the controller was increased (thanks to Steve - WZ1J for assisting with this operation) and the squelch was set. Also the squelch setting on the repeater receiver was slightly increased. Minor changes were made to the repeater programming and another backup was taken.

The machine is now up to 90% of capacity. The only thing missing at this point is an autopatch. While the importance of an autopatch has diminished in the face of cellular phone domination, an autopatch can still be useful. I will decide sometime in the spring of 2006 whether or not to replace the autopatch. In the meantime, enjoy using the newly restored features of the repeater.

Barring any major explosions, todays trip was the last for the 2005 season. Enjoy the fruits of our labor!
